At first, all my files were freeware named 'optional shareware'. But very few people (eg just one) paid the optional shareware, so instead I decided to make sharewares of them. Here is why, how and where.
What does it cost?
You can pay either $5 for a single program or $10 for all programs ever made by Nisseb Software's. You'll get free notices (by email) and updates when new versions will be released, and you'll get a unique code to register the program(s) you've paid for. And maybe something extra..? Registred users will also encourage me to update the programs and do whatever I can to fulfil your whises and needings. Companies and similar can get very much discount by just send me an email so we can talk about it. People at Apple will get more discount than Bill's boys.
How do I pay?
Preferable by sending me cash via postal mail, in whichever currency you like (dollars, kronor, franc, baht, pesetas, etc). American cheques is very expensive to use in Europe, so please skip them.. And please send me an electronic note too so we both know that the money has been sent and received. Don't forget to tell me your postal address, email and other things you may find interesting.
And if I don't want to pay..?
If you're a poor student, if you don't wish to spend your last money on some stupid programs, if you like them but don't use them so much that you will pay for them or any other reason, just send me whatever you like instead! A postcard, a photo of your pets, your own programs, a single CD, a fanmail (I've got one!), a photo of yourself (preferable from girls in a reasonable attractive age :), choclates, a pen, whatever.. You would make me very disappointed if you don't send anything at all..
Why was it freeware, and why is it shareware?
I've paid just one single shareware in my life (and got some free licenses), but I have not paid for all programs that I should. Some friendly authors, like Alex Metcalf and Jerry Åhman for example, have gived me free licenses in exchange to my own stuff. I hoped that people feeling generous to a sixteen years old programmer should pay the optional fee and that others would still send me emails without feeling like a miser. Afterall, 99,9% of the users seemed to be in the second category. I've got many friendly (and encouraging) emails, but I think I'd get some more valuable stuff if I make the files into sharewares. But please, don't avoid sending me comments, bugreports or whatever you wish! I know that many people doesn't pay for any software at all, but I still want to hear your critics, comments and bugreports!! Thank you!
Where can I get more information?
Every user who like can add themselves to the free mailinglist by visiting the webpage or sending me an email. When you're added, you'll get information via email about new releases and upgrades (recently about once a month). You may also find the latest stuff at the webpages (see beneth) and of course, by mailing me!
What other stuff have you made?
I'd recomment that you take a look at my WWW pages instead, since I continiue to write newer programs all the time. Currently I've eight files out, for example the following.
Mailto Converter is a tool for converting mailed webform results. It was, and still is, one of it's kind for the Mac and has been reviewed in some magazines and added onto several CD's, for example the Netscape CD.
HTML Vocabulary was also one of it's kind when I first wrote it. It's an HTML tag reference including almost every useful HTML tag available. It's the kind of information that can often be found on the net but now even as a fast standalone application. HTML Vocabulary has also been reviewed in MacWorld, for example.
HTML LinkChecker is a simple tool for checking for broken links and missing anchors in HTML documents.
Calles Eudora Plugins are two more or less useful plugins to the email-client Eudora (v1.4 and higher).
Dr. Jäkel and Trampchess are games requiring HyperCard (or the free HyperCard Player), and there is finally some other stuff for HyperCard and SuperCard. Plus, less useful things and stuff not yet released..
Who are you (or who am I, how to say it..)?
I'm a normal sixteen years old (nice :) boy named Carl Bäckström, interested in almost everything. Simple programming and HTML hacking is just a hobbie, so don't expect full supported things that works on every machine available.. (But I guess that I can give you better support that giants like Microsoft anyway :). Have a look at my homepage for more stuff, if you like!! If you're in Göteborg sometime, you're welcome in! Where can I contact you?
Via mail or email only. I've got a voice dial once from a CD author in Denmark, but I don't like to speak to people in languages I don't know. I'm not at home so often neither.. You can reach me by fax on demand only, so please let me know before you're going to transfer.
